Job Title: Stocks Supervisor (Controller) –Transit Stock

Key Responsibilities 

  • In –charge of all paper work related to transit stock movements, ensuring proper records are maintained for each transaction, ensuring that source & control documents affecting stock movement are checked & filed as per requirements
  • Analyzes and reconciles actual uplift vs TRA generated documents, identify variations and pass approved adjustments in the system (Nav)
  • Compiles various stock reports for Management and other stake holders use –e.g. EWURA, TRA etc
  • Follows up payment bills with TRA, ensure receipts are issued and filed properly
  • Compiles Bill of Lading for Agent (CRC) use
  • Compiles specific report per Bill of Lading per vessel as per requirements for stake holders use  
  • Verifies TRA bill of lading vs Tansad vs Puma Bill of Lading 
  • Monitors and acts on all compliance issue related to tax with Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) and Tanzania Port Authority (TPA)
  • Perform any other duty as may be directed by immediate Supervisor

Knowledge Skills and Abilities 

  • Understanding of Tanzania Revenue Authority procedures and regulations regarding transit stock movement of petroleum products
  • Understanding of EWURA regulations and procedures in respect of operating petroleum storage depots in the Country (in particular licensing procedures)
  • Knowledge of Tanzania Ports Authority procedures with regards to petroleum product importation and back loading of petroleum product to other ports/Countries
  • Inventory/stocks management
  • Working knowledge of Product quality & HSSE as applies to petroleum business
  • Working knowledge of clearing and forwarding procedures

Key responsibilities
  • The Assistant will be responsible for overall maintenance of the Eastern and Southern Africa office, by planning, overseeing and implementing regular maintenance, repairs and upgrades of new and existing facilities.
  • The successful candidate will report to the Senior Finance Officer. The Assistant will work very closely with the Center's scientists and support staff.

Main activities
  • Guide the planning and construction of new, and maintenance and repairs of existing facilities.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs for utility systems, equipment and buildings.
  • Utilize in-house technical skills and technologies, and propose outsourcing wherever it will be economical and technically feasible.
  • Repair and replace broken equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and IT-related problems (inspect electrical circuits, assist in laying internet cables as assigned, install new electrical devices, etc.).

Qualifications
  • A diploma, FTC (Full Technician Certificate) or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 3 years experience in facility maintenance and electrical services
  • Proficiency in English and Swahili

Jobs at AVRDC - Postharvest Research Assistant


Job Title: Postharvest Research Assistant

Key responsibilities
  • The Assistant’s prime responsibility will be the collection of data on postharvest handling and management of vegetable crops from trials conducted at the Center, as well as collecting data on socio-economic indicators and farmers' perception on postharvest technologies through on-farm dissemination trials. The Successful candidate will Work closely with the Center's Postharvest Specialist as well as other scientists to perform the following tasks.

Main activities
  • Assist scientists in organizing and conducting postharvest research experiments including data entry/compilation and statistical analysis.
  • Provide day-to-day management of assigned trials or activities.
  • Assist in organizing on-station and on-farm training on postharvest handling, storage and processing of vegetable crops.
  • Assist in organizing and conducting outreach and promotional activities, such as field days to promote the development and adoption of improved postharvest practices.
  • Assist in conducting economic cost-quantitative surveys of post-harvest losses and other field evaluation activities, including enumeration, encoding and compilation of data, and basic analysis.
  • Facilitate field visits by program visitors and participate in AVRDC research meetings as required.
  • Prepare and edit draft field reports, proof-read draft program reports, and conduct literature searches for peer-reviewed publications.
  • Provide assistance and other support services to postharvest research activities, and perform other tasks as may be assigned by AVRDC's Postharvest Specialist and other scientists.

Qualifications
  • BSc or higher degree in a relevant subject in the field of Horticulture, Agronomy, Food Science or Agricultural Engineering
  • Experience with and proven skills in the accurate collection of agronomic and socio-economic datain field trials are an essential requirement.
  • Good agro-economic background with focus on horticultural value-chains.
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili (spoken and written)
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with partners, horticultural value chain actors (i.e., farmers, traders, brokers, processors etc.).
